What Distinguishes Absolute Poker from Other Poker Rooms

Every poker room which is not as large as one of the poker giants (e.g., Poker Stars or Party Poker) has certain advantages. In a smaller poker room, a player can feel at ease and won't get lost in a crowd of similar players. By playing a particular kind of poker on a constant basis, a player can start noticing other regular players, make new friends and learn various gaming styles. Such poker rooms usually have a friendlier customer support service.

Like every developing poker room, Absolute Poker offers nice bonus policies. Particularly due to these great bonus policies, Absolute Poker has managed to attract many new players during their short existence, while still being able to keep the old players on board. Absolute Poker also accepts US players, which is quite favorable for low limit gaming. The poker room even hosts a big multi-player tournament which, although not very large, is still one of distinguished quality.

Which Games to Play

In Absolute Poker only Texas hold’em is played and there are almost no games for Omaha and 7 Card Stud. Single tables of Omaha and 7 Card Stud have wide gaps in their bet limit structure.

No-limit Hold’em is played in $10 to $1,000 no-limit margins and although higher limits are not impossible to find, they are rare. One interesting feature of Absolute Poker is that Hold’em is usually played on short, up-to-six-player, tables. Among beginners, longer tables are usually more popular, so Absolute Poker may seem a bit unfamiliar for newbies in this respect. At low-limit tables, the players’ behavior is loose and active often despite all probabilistic forecasts, which makes this room very attractive and profitable for the professional poker players who intend to earn money in low-limit games. By having a good background in book knowledge, a responsible player can easily win on his very first deposit.

Limited poker is played intensely just like in every other poker room that accepts players from the USA. There is a wide selection of tables in place; from the lowest limit ($0.02/$0.04) to relatively high limit ($10/$20). Games at higher limits, up to $150/$300, are also quite common.

Tournaments

Absolute Poker will please those going to low-limit Sit&Go tournaments. There is a nice choice of tournaments with buy-ins from $0.5+$0.1 to $20+$2. Occasionally, there are Sit&Go tournaments with higher buy-ins, up to $100+$9 but levels in low-limit tournaments are typically very low.

Surprisingly pleasant for such a small poker room is their schedule of multi-table tournaments. There is a tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $150,000 with non-stop satellites to it every week. Some satellites allow buying in with bonus points. There are common low buy-in tournaments with a high guaranteed prize pool, which beginners usually like very much. Interesting Omaha tournaments with low buy-ins will allow Hold’em fans to change atmosphere from time to time and switch to another kind of poker game that is still quite safe for their wallets.

Bonuses

Every first deposit is granted a 100% bonus of up to $500, which is quite high compared to other poker rooms. The bonus can be cashed out in $10 increments for every 50 bonus points. One bonus point is assigned in a real money game for every raked hand, which brings more than $0.50 of rake. Besides, a player only has to get to the flop, so it’s not necessary that they see the end of the game to get their bonus point. In tournaments, 1 bonus point is assigned for every $1 of the rake. The conditions on clearing the bonus in Absolute Poker are pretty nice. For example, you can clear the first deposit bonus twice as fast as in Titan Poker. Absolute Poker runs nearly non-stop deals for newcomers. Participation bonus codes are published on their main site.

Absolute Poker also has some VIP programs for regular players. There are three types of VIP player status: VIP, Platinum and Elite. In order to receive any one of these, a player should first hit 5,000, 20,000 or 40,000 bonus points during the month, respectively. After the player obtains VIP status, they should maintain it monthly by hitting 1,000/5,000/10,000 bonus points, depending on the status, which is usually not extremely hard to do. Similar to other poker rooms, VIP players accumulate bonus points much faster than others. VIP players have access to exclusive tournament offers and such privileges as personalized support and access to the special warehouse of the local online store. VIP players can also create tournaments, which are very convenient and enable the player to run their own tournament for a company or a group of friends.

Bonus points, like in most other poker rooms, serve as a kind of local currency. For additional bonus points a player can purchase entry tickets to various poker events and shop in the poker room’s online store.

Interface

It seems to be the case that smaller poker rooms have less convenient client programs. Absolute Poker is not that different in this respect. There are no prompts, for example, for bet amounts, which can cause some frustration during the game if paired with poorly outlined chips. The color scheme leaves something to be desired and the text does not contrast well with the background. Some control elements are not very useful. However, there is support of photo avatars and the site is quick and stable. The client program also supports data import from Pokertracker.
